NepTunes Lock Screen
Your music, right where you left it.
A native player on your Mac’s lock screen. See the track and use playback controls without unlocking.
Separate, optional download for NepTunes 4.2 or later on macOS 26 or 27. NepTunes does not download or install it.
Before you install
Made for the Mac you already use.
NepTunes 4.2 or later, on macOS 26 or 27. NepTunes Pro shows the player. The add-on is free.
In an active logged-in session, when your Mac is locked and Apple Music or Spotify has a track in NepTunes. NepTunes must be running. It does not appear at the login window after reboot or logout.
A separate background app outside the Mac App Store. It uses a private macOS window-server API to display the player on the lock screen.
Getting started
Install once. Turn it on in NepTunes.
- 01Open the installer
Download and open the installer, then click Install. You’ll see its progress and an Installed screen. macOS may show its usual confirmation for an app downloaded from the web and a background-item notice.
- 02Click Done
Done opens NepTunes Settings → Lock Screen. Turn on the lock-screen player there.
- 03Keep listening
A newer NepTunes asks for a newer add-on in that pane, and the installed one keeps working. The add-on does not update itself. Remove it from that pane.
The player stays out of the way when there’s no track, and leaves the password field free.
